About

At Capacity, we are dedicated to creating change in health and social care policy and programming that is driven by communities of people impacted by gender-based violence.

We are committed to the principles and practices of community-based and participatory approaches to research that value holistic views of personhood, reciprocity, strengths, and rights to self-determination to achieve these aims. Our work occurs in collaboration and in partnership with researchers, leaders, staff, and people with lived and living experience of gender-based violence.

Situated at the University of British Columbia, Capacity is committed to providing a world-class training environment in applied, inclusive and ethical research. Our vision is to advance and enhance the research, health care and social service workforces necessary to address gender-based violence and create a more just Canadian society.
